Zac Alley's exit doesn't tell us what's wrong with Brent Venables' Sooner program, only that many things must be
In the wake of Zac Alley’s departure for West Virginia, where he’ll coordinate the Mountaineer defense working for Rich Rodriguez rather than the Sooner defense working for Brent Venables, this thought again feels apropos:
When it comes to Oklahoma football, things we can see make clear the existence of things we can’t.
Alley is the latest, and while his move presents as both unthinkable and impossible, it remains no less true.
He is leaving Norman for Morgantown, and though he shares a history with Rodriguez at both Louisiana-Monroe and Jacksonville State spanning four seasons, he shares a history with Venables at both Clemson and OU that’s twice as long.
Also, this:
West Virginia is West Virginia and Oklahoma is Oklahoma.
What’s next, losing position coaches to Slippery Rock and Fairleigh Dickinson?
But here we are.
