You ate the only media person I know to point out how poorly the association has marketed high school sports. I agree with you. And I agree the bill introduced, with a board appointed mainly by politicians, will not be an improvement. But the association has sometimes been its own worst enemy. What can be done to improve it?

It's like walking into the middle of a movie, and assuming the movie just started.

The story of Alex Pretti began before Saturday, January 24. He was not on his first venture out to exercise his First Amendment rights on his way home from his nurse's job (bring a whistle if you have one at home, and a 9mm pistol as well, ID is optional). The story began 11 days earlier, January 13 (or perhaps even before that), when he confronted ICE Agents who were engaged in a federal operation, where he confronted them (a felony), spat at them (or their SUV), kicked and broke their tail light (a felony), and then resisted arrest, where he perhaps suffered a broken rib, and where, for some reason, ICE let him go. And then 11 days later, he was back out again, against the urging of his Dad, this time confronting Border Patrol Agents engaged in a federal operation (a felony), resisting arrest while carrying a concealed weapon (without an ID, reportedly), and it resulted in him being shot and killed, resulting in protests screaming "Abolish ICE", etc. It wasn't ICE, it was the Border Patrol, but close enough for the organized protestors.

In the same way, the story of Renee Good began before January 7. It perhaps started when she completed her ICE Observer Training (or perhaps before). We pick up her story when she is blocking the roadway (impeding a Federal Operation, a felony), ignoring the ICE Agent's command to get out her car, and encouraged by her lesbian partner's urging to "Drive, Baby Drive", which resulted in her being shot and killed after striking an ICE officer with her car.

Two lives, tragically lost! Two individuals, abusing their rights of Freedom of Speech and Freedom to Peacefully protest. Two individuals, trained to do what they did, funded by folks like Neville Roy Singham (American businessman and social activist, socialist benefactor of far-left causes, currently residing in China). Remember that name!

And so the ranting of the Dems continue..."Abolish ICE".

And at the same time in Norman, OK, lots of neat things are happening in Sports that could be written about: (1) The OU Women's Tennis Team qualified for the ITA National Indoor Championship last Sunday, January 25, (2) The OU Women's Basketball Team has recovered from their 3-game losing streak to score a great upset over South Carolina, with hopefully more exciting victories to come, (3) The OU Women's Softball Team is getting ready to start their season on February 5 in Tempe, AZ, and Standing Room Only (SRO) tickets went on sale this morning at 10am, (4) The Super Bowl is coming up on February 8, (5) Roger Denny, OU's new AD, was introduced yesterday, January 28, and he made some interesting comments about OU Men's Basketball, and (6) Norman got 10 inches of snow over the weekend.

You can watch this week’s OU game on the SEC Network! 😀😀

Clay, Now that Ryan Walters, your constant whipping boy, has resigned, maybe it's time to give it a rest! If you're looking for local topics about which to share your thoughtful comments, you might want to write about (1) Bree Montoya, who recently resigned as Ward 3 Norman City Council Member, after suggesting that a local resident commit suicide (stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger) and (2) Helen Grant, Ward 4 Norman City Council Member, who wouldn't get off her butt and stand and face the Flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of a recent Norman City Council Meeting.

Charlie Kirk:

Charlie Kirk was always quick to say that, first and foremost, he was a Christian...and that angered some folks.

Charlie Kirk was a Conservative, and a passionate supporter of Capitalism, President Donald Trump, and MAGA...and that likely angered even more folks.

Charlie Kirk was always open to free and vigorous debate....and that angered some folks.

And now...Charlie Kirk has been killed.

You said "His figurative north star was defending Donald Trump in all circumstances independent of all the ways Trump might abuse that loyalty, all of which made him fairly irredeemable". Quite to the contrary...Charlie Kirk was Redeemed!

We disagree, but that’s fine. Happy you read me, even if just for the sports ☺️

Mr. Horning - I'm a charter school advocate and (as I like to say), a "recovering Catholic". I was delighted to read the SCOTUS decision re St. Isidore. But wondered re "what's next?" in light of its timing - the death of Pope Francis + the impending conclave + the then-scheduled canonization of (now) St. Acutis. Thankfully, and better-late-than-never, the Diocese changed course and did NOT re-submit a charter application nor file for further court proceedings. They decided on a course which had ALWAYS been available - setting up a PRIVATE on-line Catholic school in OK. I wish them well. I regret the time and waste of tax-payer funds it took to get to this conclusion. Thanks for your perspective and commentary - and most especially that pic of Pope Leo in the ball park - priceless!!

Hi Clay,

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my ole' girl at the start of the year, man she was a fighter just wouldn't let go. I'm glad you have a couple left to help comfort. Hope things go well for you and your back issues, I've been dealing with knee stuff and I can relate to what you are going through. Hang in there!
