Sooners get what they needed against Black Bears, but is it enough?
Still on Oklahoma's agenda: Missouri, Alabama, LSU
The shame of it is Oklahoma needed this game.
In its first Southeastern Conference season, having opened the year ranked 16th, following a trio of consecutive losses by 31, 26 and 12 points, the Sooners needed to play a team like Maine, a middle of the road FCS program coming off a 10-point loss to Rhode Island.

But maybe it will.
The final score was 59-14, meaning OU not only prevailed big, but covered a gargantuan 37 1/2 spread, too.
Still better, it was dotted with all kinds of unfamiliar sightings, all but the opening Black Bear drive to score the game’s first touchdown being on the positive side.
