You’d never guess, but over the next few days both Sooner basketball coaches can pull even, or ahead, of a couple all-timers who preceded them.

Though the often forgotten Burl Plunkett guided the Oklahoma women to the 1994 WNIT championship four years after the university tried killing the program and into the NCAA tournament’s second round the very next season, only one all-timer has led the program and that’s Sherri Coale.

The men have been led by a couple all-timers, back-to-back.

There was the late, great Billy Tubbs, who reigns supreme, and Kelvin Sampson, who may be surpassing at Houston what he did at OU, who was eventually superb in Norman after finally making a March Madness dent his fifth season on the job.

So how can Porter Moser get in line, or in front of Sampson, and how might Jennie Baranczyki get on Coale’s schedule of Big Dance success?
