The Sooners are back at Owen Field today to meet Auburn.

Once there was a time today’s exercise would not have been today’s exercise. Like, before the season began, today’s pregame column figured to be about one thing: what Oklahoma (3-0, 0-0 SEC) must do to beat Auburn (3-0, 0-0 SEC).

Instead, it’s something else.

Instead, we’re shooting higher.

Instead, today, it will be four great signs the Sooners really are for real, should perhaps be considered the best team in the SEC and, who knows, might well wind up playing for a national championship … or, at least, be the favorite when the Red River rivalry rolls around, Texas now occupying the No. 8 spot in the Associated Press Top 25, OU the 13th and Auburn the 20th.

As it happens each of the four should go a long way toward beating Auburn, they just won’t all be required to beat Auburn.

Ready?

Here we go.
